BMWs with the ZF automatic gearbox transform with an xHP transmission remap. We flash the gearbox control unit (TCU) to sharpen shifts, raise the torque limit and unlock features BMW keeps hidden — in three stages to suit your car.
Stage 1 — optimised
Optimised shift points, better warm-up behaviour, torque-converter lockup tuning and an in-dash gear display — a noticeably sharper box for daily driving.
Stage 2 — sport
Around 25% faster up-shifts in D, S and M, quicker paddle response and kickdown delete for a properly responsive, sporty feel.
Stage 3 — performance
Up to 50% faster up-shifts in manual mode, rev-matched downshifts, true manual (holds your gear), and a torque limit raised to 1000 Nm for serious builds.
Protects a tuned engine
Raising the gearbox torque limit lets the ZF box safely handle the extra torque from an engine remap — essential on higher-power BMWs.

Good to know
Common questions.
Which BMWs can be tuned?+
Any BMW with the ZF 8-speed (and many 6-speed) automatic gearboxes. Send us your reg and we'll confirm compatibility and the right stage.
What's the difference between the stages?+
Stage 1 optimises the box for everyday use; Stage 2 adds noticeably faster, sportier shifts; Stage 3 is a full performance calibration with true manual mode, rev-matching and the highest torque limit.
Does it work with an engine remap?+
Yes — it's the ideal partner. The engine map adds power and torque, the xHP map lets the gearbox deliver and cope with it.
